This was a purchase last Sunday from the February Collector's Fair here in Sydney, Australia. I'd bought a larger figure from the same people two months before and decided to buy this one this month.
http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/41787-leopold-anzengruber-keramik-wien-c-1950?in=user

He is smaller and does not have the Anzengruber mark.
What I like about this figue is the detail.
Notice the mushrooms at his knee,
the splay of the accordion,
the joy on his face,
the curves on his garments,
the hat (der Tirolerhut),?
and the hair,
the ribbon at his neck.
The balance of the figure itself.

He measures 6.3 inches high (16cm) and is stamped under the foot "Handmade in Austria", and still retains the original sticker to the bottom of his foot.

Leopold Anzengruber founded his company in Vienna in 1949.
I've seen other of his figures here on Collector's Weekly: Amanda Adams has posted a female head here .......... http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/41208-more-of-our-art-deco-and-hagenauer-colle?in=user

Leopold Anzengruber was born in Steyr, Austria on 30 March 1912. Interestingly after leaving school he was trained at a young age in Firenze, Italy. He didn't return to Austria until 1942. After World War II, in 1948, he set up Anzengruber-Keramic by taking over the pottery workshop of Gusti Mundt-Amann 49 Boecklin Strasse, Vienna 2. He made a go it and the business flourished. The modelling of a one of the Three Wise Men in a Nativity Scene - a Moor - interested him and he began working on the design of many Negro and African figures, both male and female. They were a hit and soon became iconic images of the mid-century period. In 1958 the company employed 96 people.
