This large Pallme König “teardrop” shaped pendant shade features a creamy opalescent glass ground with pink/purple spotting at the bottom and vertical yellow drips. Dimensions: 7.25”(H) x 5.5”(W); 3.25” fitter collar.
A drip color variation of the shade above is pictured in Jo Ann Thomas' Early Twentieth Century Lighting Fixtures: Selections from the R. Williamson Lamp Catalog (Paducah, KY: Collectors' Books, 2000).
Pallme König, also known as Elizabethhütte or Glasfabrik Elizabeth, is one of the under-appreciated Bohemian glassworks working in the shadow of Loetz and Moser. While less known, Pallme König was arguably the best in capturing flower forms and the Jugendstil organic aesthetic. Pallme König pieces are known for their chaotic, thick drip application, as seen on the sides of the shade above, and their extravagantly tooled and scissored vase tops.
