This is the second ever produced Ken doll. The stamp on the doll says 1960, although I believe they were available for purchase for the first time in 1961, 2 years after Barbie was introduced. The first Ken had flocked hair. After Mattel realized the hair fell off when it got wet, they introduced this doll with painted hair. Like the flocked hair version, there was both a blonde and a brunette variation.
