If you have found nothing under Mirkin(.s. the word merkin is worth looing up in the dictionary, (very funny), but I thought it might be Minkin...It looks like Deflthaven, Holland.

Good luck. I'm sure many people think it is Italy, which it might be, but the style of architecture right down to the flowers in the window boxes seem are distinctly Dutch, in my humble opinion, as a resident in Rotterdam for a year.

p.s. Defltshaven ia a town in Holland famous for their arts, an artist colony, many students, very creative area.

It might be one of the many many artists who make their "bread and butter" doing "classic" landscapes consigned for sale to tourists. Some of these painters are very good, but they are drowned out once consigned, bought and sold with huge collections, to the public. I feel like this is a "bread and butter" painting for the artist, and I would love to see some of his own creative works, rather than a possibly consigned painting, as I love his use of color, detail and calm. Don't get me wrong, I like the painting, but think it is more mimicry than the artist's creativity. I will do a little hunt, you never know...this may be someone we all know in forty years!!

I was interested to find this post on W Mirkin (Minkin?), and also for Michelleamieux ... I have a painting which I 'acquired' (not my taste) and was interested to find a bit about it and/or the painting. I think it might be an original oil painting, certainly with the same signature, but nothing like the above ... overtones of Picasso I would say. Any thoughts, comments would be wonderful, thanks (I can post a pic ... would it need to be on another thread ... sorry, newbie)

We purchased a painting from a young French artist visiting an art school in Australia last month with the same name (W. Mirkin) and exactly same signature but completely different style. It's a stunning contemporary painting. He said he was from Brittany studying at l'ecole des beaux arts in Paris.

I've had to add the photo as a new show and tell under the same name ie W.Mirkin.
I think this young artist has amazing talent.
