I am trying to identify these bracelets, they have a stamp on the sliding bar clasp of Sep 13 '70 also stamped with patent pending. They are rose gold filled. 3/4" wide, 6.75 circumference. No other markeings that I can find on bracelets or box. Very little wear, all enamel intact. Bracelets are identical, one pattern on one side another pattern on other side as shown above.
Actually, as I have recently discovered, these are not really bracelets. They are for cuffs on victorian period gowns. Women wore on each arm to keep her sleeves in place. This is why they are identical.
OK - left something out. This is because there was no elastic. And I did not mean "gowns" - they could have been worn with blouses, etc. They held the sleeves in place - with panache
I have been told these could be wedding bracelets. The groom to be gave the 1st bracelet as an engagement gift and the final was after they were married as a wedding gift.
well of course, anything can be given as a wedding gift - however, they more than likely are for the purpose of matching each arm to hold sleeves in place in a very high fashion form. buttons were the only other choice. they could have been given as wedding/engagement of course, but for their intended purpose.
