A recent find. A beautiful telephone pin from the State of Alabama. Looks to be from the early 196os.
Some States in the USA had hundreds of telephone companies such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Missouri and even California.
Other States in the USA did not have many rural telephone companies at all. This was particulary true in the South and the Southeast. Cumberland Telephone & Telegraph was the major telephone provider until it was taken over by Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph.
It has been difficult to find telephone pins for any of the States in the Deep South with the exception of Florida (and it has been difficult too). I am still looking for any rural telephone pins from Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Georgia. Of course Georgia was primarily covered by Southern Bell but it would be nice to find pins issued by other telephone companies as well.
Thank you - Enjoy!
