Brilliant Cut Glass square antique vase bought 10 or so yrs ago from an estate sale in a very upscale neighborhood it was a gorgeous mid century modern home of an elderly woman that had recently passed. the home was packed full of goodies i came across it on its last hour and picked this up for $20.00. its very tall and heavy and has a beautiful clear ring to the glass and a brilliant sparkle to it. i wonder if its crystal or just plain ole cut glass. would love to find out more about it if anyone knows please share

Hello....The word crystal is mistaken all the time as a type of glass. Crystal means clear as in "crystal clear." Glass companies have played with the word for years. "cut crystal" "lead crystal" crystal glass, etc. With "American Brilliant Cut Glass" the word "brilliant" is a replacement word for "Rich" Cut Glass as many companies called their cut glass in the 1900s or earlier Terms are twisted to say the least. Who made your vase? It is either from an obscure American company or of European origin such as Czechoslovakia, etc. I am sure someone else can tell you the place of origin better than I.
