The Egyptian by Zsolnay
Hungary, circa 1900
20" high
Zsolnay was one of the widely acclaimed Art Nouveau ceramics manufactories, winning awards at the world expositions of their day. They are still in business, but like some other potteries, their best work ended with the Art Nouveau era. I fell in love with this form as soon as I saw it. The figure and the ewer have the renowned Zsolnay eosin glaze.
Designed by Sandor Apati Abt
Modeled by Lajos Mack

Another amazing piece, thanks for sharing your fabulous collection!
Early echoes of Art Deco pervade the design of this piece. An interesting mix of Deco and Jugendstil Symbolism. Very nice, indeed.
Crazy beautiful!
