Our oldest son is a break dancer. He also produces breakdancing events, including Claws Out, which is held every year at Loyola Marymount University in LA. The name comes from LMU's mascot, which is a lion. He figured that for this event, the lion would have its claws out, so to speak. This shirt was for Claws Out III, hence the three slashes.
