Picked up this nifty little change purse recently on a BIN deal. It is a wee piece of leather, capacity of which was designed for an age gone by when a penny, nickel, or dime could really buy something (reference 5¢ for a glass of The Delicious and Refreshing). The purse is listed on pg. 544 of Petretti's 12th, I believe the picture shows it was once gold embossed, which has long since worn off. I located some period coins I found when I went through my mom's things a few years back, including 1906 and 1907 nickels, which complete the piece. It joins a 50's pigskin wallet living with my other smalls inside the 1940 Standard Ice.
Hope everybody is well and scooping up the deals (Trev sure is on a roll I see!). Keep The Hits Coming!
Dave
P.S. I added a comparison photo showing a change purse included in the next Schmidt's Museum auction next to mine. Nice to see we're on the same page.

Thats a really cool piece of cc history there Dave, very nice! Stellar addition to the "smalls"!!
Thanks Bernie, nice to hear from you. I've been laying low, keeping to the smalls (with a little help from my friends). Having fun and TRYING not to go overboard. You know, the more I look at this little change purse, the more I think it never had the gold embossing. This is more of a raised image, vs. the ones in Petretti's which just seem to have the gold flat on the leather. Hmmm... need TGBWC, earlycoke, cocacolakid97, et al to school me a little... again.
That's a nice "change" from the usual large items you buy. Glad you "purse"ued this. Can't say about the gold overlay. In any case, this looks fine just the way it is. Good "purse snatch."
Thanks Ray! I feel I came through in the "clutch". Oh Gawd, now I'm thinking about bad purse puns... yer killin' me! :)
Nice purse Dave, really cool to see it advertising a SS bottle.
Thanks Trevor! I've been enjoying seeing your recent posts, those are some cool signage. Always great to hear from you.
thanks Dave :)
Thanks miKKo for looking, I'm always glad to see nice visitors like yourself.
