    friend has had the violin for over 60yrs, she does not have a computer, sow she wants me to find out something about the age of the violin, and where she could find a value for it.

      A fine instrument like a violin needs to be personally and professionally appraised. Start by searching online or phone book for vionin makers, violin luthier, etc. you might start with a music store or violin teacher.
