I recieved this treasure from a gentleman whom inherited it from his parentsback in a plantation home in Braithwaite La. He needed to sale it to clear his parents home before the sale of that plantation(Mary's PLantation). I love to know more about it if anyone has info on it. It's a decorative piece I think . Because it's dementions are 18" high by 22" length by 10" wide, full wooden horse body hand carved, leather saddle, metal stirrips, wheels and pedals. Real horse hair tail, wooden handle grips, iron wheel spokes rims banded with metal, it really works. please let me in on some of this history if anyone knows anything about this tresure from the past. This is only one of the pieces I have from that plantation. So any info on the Mary's Plantation would be helpful too.

Plantation? I wish I had a quarter for every story applied to these 1990's Phillipine Imports. I have seen them in Antique Auctions, Flea Markets, Estate Sales, always with a good story.

You shouldn't feel to bad, you have a lot of company of people being taken by these fakes and unscruptulous sellers. The reason I post this, is to warn others. This is just one item in a whole line of imports that were made to look old. They also made doll and baby buggys, victorian birdcages, etc.

Did a quick search of doll buggys, picture #3, #4 and #6 are all 1990,s repros by the same company that made the horse tricycle. The others are period pieces.

Thanks for your comments. But I know for a fact this is the real deal and I have aquired others artifacts , antiques and rare books directly from the plantation.

I have one exactly like yours. KNOWN FACT: It was passed down from Grandmother to Daughter in 1940's and was passed to her Daughter in 1970's and passed to next Daughter in 1990's. It has scroll work supports and not cast iron type frame. Wherever it was made was before 1940's. JaxFla

Good work rocker. I have also seen many of these fakes!

They fooled a lot of folks when they first began showing up in the 90s.
