Your bear is wonderful ! Columbia Teddy Bear Company, The 1917 bear was named the Patriotic Bear, made during World War I, was red, white, and blue and had electric light bulbs for eyes.
Thanks for sharing your precious bear !!

Your welcome hope that helped I find your bear quite wonderful and he deserves his place in history as he was first bear to represent the colors of the Flag :-)
I think Columbia re opened under just Colunbia Toys later on . Here is a link to maybe some history

I think that the bear like yours that sold went to low . I would value it much higher
    than that :-)

yeah, i know the value and i couldn't believe it went for so low... if people knew it only required batteries it would have went for a lot of $$$$$$

Glad you got a great bargin and you fixed him so nice ! He's a keeper I think he slipped through and was missed or something but he is special and has $$$$$ attached to him :-) Just love getting to see him .

One thing that's really awesome about your bear, is the blue hasn't faded so much as the one on eBay. He is adorable, so glad Manikin was able to give you so much help. What a treasure! I wish I could see him in real life! He should be on display!
