The Mary Hoyer Doll Manufacturing Company began in 1925 as a yarn and craft shop in Reading, Pennsylvania USA. Mary designed knitted goods for infants and children and later added a slim doll that could model her clothes along with a pattern book. . In late 30's she commisioned her own dolls with her name embossed on back The Mary Hoyer Doll made of composition and 14" tall . Later she changed to hard Plastic . These dolls have many patterns she created to knit or sew for and also sold Factory clothes from her store front . Very collectible and the clothes and accessories that you get get for these dolls are endless and beautiful as well as the doll. The Co is still operating under leadership of her daughter but the newer dolls are not 14" like old ones they are a bit smaller so those clothes sold new will not fit the old dolls . I have collected many many Hoyers and their clothes . One of my Favorite 40's dolls as well as it was kind of like a manikin doll as she was used to make clothes for . You could even order kits of yarn and pattern from her store or cloth clothes in a kit to sew yourself . The options were endless and she was a very important influence in the world of dolls .
