Found this magnifying glass at a local thrift store, so excited to find
this. I need help identifying it though, and possibly its worth.
Markings: crown/lion/T capital
also JB and looks like JIB, and an ornate diamond with
small letters in it. Any help will be appreciated.
Also looks like the handle is antler.

Nice Find!
Thanks, I hope I can find out the details of this piece. Still some hope for treasure hunters yet
check out this link, it has a list of sterling makers and their marks, it might help you identify the time period and the maker if you can match any of them up. http://www.925-1000.com/
Thank You so much!!! Ton of information.
Crown symbol City of Sheffield England
Lion is a symbol of sterling silver
T- is the year 1885
JB- John Batt 1880
Still I can not find what the JIB means.
This was very educating, and enjoyed this very much
I am starting to get attached to this piece now. Though still
I would like to know its value if anyone can help.
Here is a similar one on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grand-Antique-Antler-Horn-Sterling-Silver-Magnifying-Glass-1884-/230753905730?pt=Antiques_Silver&hash=item35ba012c42
Don't clean or polish the sterling, in my opinion it will de-value the piece.
Great advise, it looks better. Thank You for all your help
its been a pleasure
