This WW2 Airborne soldier is pictured with his wife or girlfriend. The photograph is 8" X 5" and is in a WW2 period holder.

He wears his wings on his shirt with a unit backing or flash-- I cannot discern what unit he served in.

He garrison cap also sports an Airborne oval.

I have no idea who this soldier was or if he survived the War.

    Wedding Day?
scott, did soldiers in the US during WW II need permission to marry?

Thanks walksoftly-- my initial thoughts were wedding as well.

I am fairly certain that permission was needed in order to marry.

They introduced that rule in Canada part way into the war, I think they where concerned about the costs of spouse's allowance & or Widows Pensions.

I believe that in the US it was part of the pre- War military as well and continued well past WW2.

I check and see what I can find out.
