I was going through a box of my deceased father in laws and found this cigarette lighter. I have never seen anything like it before and have no idea how old it is, who manufactured it or when. There are no markings on the lighter. My father in law would be 98 if he were still alive.
I have two granddaughters, 3 & 6 and would like to give it to them but would also like to be able to tell them something about it.

your unmarked lighter is a pocket petrol watchlighter manufactured by abraham pollak of new york circa late 1920's or early 1930's. they are quite common but collectible as it incorporates a watch.
Hey fred64870, I am glad to hear that this will be passed down and kept in the family. I really hate to see items that have been in families sold rather than kept and cherished. I know some people may have financial problems and need money, but I strongly advise people to keep family items as much as possible ! Try and make sure you put a note with it describing what it is, where it came from, etc. I am trying to do that for alot of items that I plan on passing down. Thanks for sharing, ThriftyGypsy
