This a Ninth plate ambrotype of a woman knitting and dates from about 1855- 1863.
Occupational images have a good following and most collectors include domestic duties in the occupational genre.
The image has excellent clarity and contrast and will show great when I put it into a case. This probably deserves a thermoplastic case!
