Help! I found this fabulous heavy, three footed brass bowl at an antique shop recently and although I know nothing about Asian items, I just liked the look and feel. I would love to know more about it. How old is it? Where is it from. What do the marks on the bottom mean? What was it intended to be used for? What is the approximate value? It weighs in at 3 lbs 1 oz, is 8 inches wide and 6 inches tall. Thanks! ANY information or opinions would be much appreciated.

Hi, really like your bowl, simple but elegant. It appears to be made in five pieces, the legs, bowl proper and an attached handle. Can't be sure from the photos, is this correct? Copied the first picture to a photo editor, rotated 180 degrees, sdjusted and enlarged, still not clear enough to read. I think think this is a Ming dynastic mark. If you will rotate the bowl and shoot again using a closeup setting if you have one, and repost, I will try again. This will likely not be a Ming piece, the marks are rerely from the period they say. Regards, ...Jim
