My father W. G. Tackett started working for Sail Oil / Fleet Oil company in 1956. Direct Oil Company bought out the Fleet / Sail stations. He continued with Direct until they closed down about 1985. This was stuff he had kept all those years. The only thing that has been bought in the case is the pump globe. The globe came from station 99 V Salem Va. 99 V was my fathers home station for many years. A former Direct employee sold me the globe.

I used to be a manager for two Direct stations in the seventies. I also have a ceramic Direct sign in my basement "cave" on the wall. I have a kerosene pump glass fixture as well as pump stickers that I noticed you don't have in your collection. I can send you a picture if you want. Terry Jones

My name is Clark Johnson. At one time, I was a VP of Retail Marketing for Tenneco Oil. Direct Oil was one of my business segments. Your father's name - W.G. Tackett - is very familiar to me.
There is an effort underway to write a book about Tenneco Oil, by Cliff Rackley and Joe Foster, both past presidents of the production and refining companies.
