WW1 Chaplains helmet. Very unusual as it is the only helmet I have ever seen with an original field repair. This was obviously a Chaplain who was close to the trenches. At some point he was caught in a bomb blast, possibly an air blast, as the helmet suffered a concussion fracture, two small shrapnel holes, and the outer rim edge sprung off. It appears that he thought enough of his Lucky (by divine intervention) helmet to have it repaired. The concussion fracture was knocked out and the two small holes repaired by the insertion of copper plugs.
