Picked up this stoneware jug over the weekend at a local show. The next day (Sunday) the Toledo Blade printed a related article about the St. James Hotel that Alex Weber built in 1881. They are trying to save and revive the hotel that Mr. Weber built and ran his "wholesale and retail grocery provision and liquor house" on the ground floor. Mr. Weber's sons took over the business when he retired in 1898 and kept it going unil 1917. This jug would date to that period. The jug is in good shape despite the smearing of the business name stamp/logo.
