Here's a small embossed bottle from Jacobs' Pharmacy Atlanta, Ga., approx 1900. Legend is that the first sale of Dr. Pemberton's "Coke and Cola" drink was from Venable's soda fountain at Jacobs' Pharmacy in 1886. Now, while it's nice to have this small piece associated with Coke lore, that's not to say the bottle can be attributed to THE Jacobs' Pharmacy where The Brain and Nerve Tonic was first sold, nor am I sure it was around in '86. I did a little research, and there were several Jacobs' locations throughout Atlanta during late 1800's early 1900's. The bottle, as far as I can tell from dating research, is hand-made or mouth-blown and of the period. I think probably closer to 1900 than 1886... but maybe... just maybe... :) A guy can dream, can't he?!?! (OK to burst my bubble, bottle lovers!)

Is that a Coca-Cola ruler?
Yep. Freebie. Seller tossed it as an extra to a 30's pencil set.
From the pictures that I can see, I can tell it's BIM, and the bottle shape and design pushes it to the late 1890's-1900's, it maybe a little (big) stretch but it could be from the late 1880's as well. It's at least before 1905 because by then, I'm sure a big company like Jacob's Pharmacy would have automatically made bottles (ABM).
Great to hear from you cckid and thanks for sharing your knowledge. The dream is alive! Well... barely... OK... waking up! :) I'm satisfied that the bottle is in the ball park of "early Coke". That's good enough for me. Hope it's going good up the street in Holt. Everything's under control in Mason, as far as I can tell. Take care.
I like the way you think Dave, use that six degrees of separation to make the link!!!
Thanks Tom. With the small coupons and this sort of thing, it's nice, one can have a connection to Coca-Cola The Early Years without busting the budget. Of course, those early signs are out of reach for most of us! I'll enjoy the small pieces of history, just fine for Nobucks...
