Looking for some map lovers out there, I have this 3' 7" long by 32" high, metal on wood map. 3rd pic is of the top middle of Adam and Eve. 4th pic is on the bottom center. Writing on top is "ORBIS TERRANA DESCRIPTIO DUOBISPLANIS HEMISPHAERIIS"
Under that are the words "AMERICAE VTRIUFQUE SEPTENTRIONALIS USTRALIS". Looking for some info, similair ones I find date them around the 1600's. Any info as to worth if any would be appreciated. The metal looks like copper maybe? The frame appears to be pressed wood? Not sure.

Fairly new, probably decorator item (Pier One?)
Pop, it looks pretty ancient? It's been around for many years?
I have the same map. I have been having trouble researching it. It is not from Pier One. My research has found it to be a reproduction map of Nicolaes Van Geelkercken's Orbis Terrarum Descriptio Duobis Planis Hemisphaeriis Comprehesa. I will just call the Adam and Eve hemisphere map. The original map is extremely rare with less than five in existence. This reproduction was created by Masketeers Inc. out of W. Virginia in roughly 1964. Some people have the stamp visible on the back of theirs. Mine no longer shows the stamp. As to the value of the map, I have no clue.
Thx, Cthompson for you comment.
i have this exact map too. My Dad brought it home 40 years ago and somehow i ended up with it...no idea about the value either but it is cool on the wall. Would like to know thought what the value is...
