My vintage "Foxy" educational toy. It was used to teach arithmetic, reading, spelling and writing to children nearly 100 years ago. Manufactured by J. H. Fox & Son in Berea, Ohio, it is metal with wooden letters and has a patent date of 1917. Cool story how I acquired it: I fell in love with it at the Shawnee Hills Antique Barn in Cobden, IL when they were going out of business. Although priced fairly, being a single-gal-on-a-budget kind of collector, I had to pass it up. I sadly told my boyfriend about it that night, and he surprised me two weeks later by giving it to me for my birthday! It was meant to be!!! : )

And now we have computers and calculators rather than learning. Or does this model have a spell check function? :) Very nice indeed.
