I'd like to know if anyone has ever seen anything like this? Its heavy iron with 3 Griffin legs holding it at the bottom. The top has a shallow bowl for holding something. There are no numbers or any identification that I can see. I find this piece of art quite unique. I'd like to know what this was used for?

It also has a spike in the middle of the bowl. Maybe its a candle holder?
