This has been my favorite picture since I was a little girl. It had been in my Godfather's house since he bought it from Ken. When I was thirty, he had given me a giant Ed Ruscha, and I was moving to New Orleans and told him it was just too big, so he gave me this Ken Price in exchange... it was uncanny because I had never told him that it was my favorite piece of his art...he made me the happiest girl in the world. I owned my favorite piece of art, pretty cool. I am sorry the photos aren't better. The bottom left says, "Turtle Cup on Wet Sand", and the lower right is "PRICE '69". Maybe I'll put up a 2nd post with some closer photos..the detail is extraordinary!! I know Ken Price was very sick with throat cancer. He and my Godfather stayed close, and My Godfather called the other day to tell me he had passed away, very sad news to the Art World. Anyways, I love my Kenny Price..when my Godfather handed me this painting he said,.."This will buy you a house one day". I would love a house, but it is too hard to part with this piece. For forty years have adored it...If anyone has any info on Ken Price and especially his early sketches and early Turtle Cups, please do tell!! Thank you again to the brains on CW!! Mich
