This watch belonged to my grandfather, Jules Henri Venon. I received it from my father, Claude H. Venon. I do not really know much about its origin or value.

First things first, was reading the posted comments on the glasswares, and will be watching for more family history. Second, VERY nice watch, !7 jewel movement, 18K case and a lot of family heritage. As a famous persons personal effects, and you being family, if you can find a picture of this watch with your grandfather together, it would have a reference to same. The value would be increased. But as the watch as a collector piece and the gold content alone would make this a great addition to any collector. Love the watch and thanks for sharing.

This company was founded in 1872 by Colonel Johann Kottmann and developed by relatives, Ernst, Charles, and Rudolf Kottmann, till around 1944. All through its history the company has registered several names with various small differences:- Langendorf S.A.,Langendorf Watch Co.,

In the beginning of the 20th century they ventured into USA. and Langendorf were imported by American Swiss Watch Co. In 1925 they set up an agency in Le Chaux De Fonds. Majority of the watches were produced for export and to save paying duty they were cased in the country that imported them (this applied to the U.S.A. also). I have a few Lancos & in my opinion they are pretty good mid-range watches.
