    Hayzeleyes…
    (1 item)

I can't get the back open and am scared to try because of causing scratches. I have looked up some other ones and know it is difficult to tell what year without the serial number. I have seen where some have posted what seems to be the same watch as a Railroad Special. Mine as you can see doesn't have that on the face and would love to find out any information on it ? Also, besides the apparent sentimental value is there a range of value anyone can tell me? Thank you so much.

Update : I just figured out I could unscrew the back and got to the guts of the watch. The serial number is 2546587. Says : Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster Pa. 21 jewels. 992. Double Roller. 5 rollers adjustable.
Any other information would be appreciated as to value or about the year. I tried to look up the number on a chart and came up with a 1902 or 1903?

Thank you so much ... I have found out so much more since being able to open the back. While looking it up I found one place that says it is a 992L ? but not sure how accurate it is. Also, while I had the back opened I was looking at all the amazing detail and the wheel started moving. It works .. well somewhat. It runs for a little bit then stops. I am going to get it to an appraiser this week and see if and what needs to be repaired. I believe it is actually a 1929 instead of what I stated before. .. Thank you for the help and I am learning

Very nice railroad grade Hamilton! It was made in 1929. I've included a link to the NAWCC message board. It's on a discussion about the different 992's...

Please post a picture of the movement. We'd love to see it!

The stem turned a few times around but not very far. I left it sitting on my desk and the wheel has been turning ever since. Although, when I pick it up it does eventually stop turning. So it sounds as if the staff could be broken. There are several jewelers in the area I have looked at in the phone book, but wasn't sure how to find out if they were experts or not.
Thank you again. Will check out the ebay stuff as well.

toolate2 .. Thank you. I will post pictures of the movement. I tried once and got frustrated because the picture did no justice to the actual watch.

There is a number on the case as well but I don't know if it is significant to the value of the watch. I believe it says Wadsworth ? and the number on it is 6978130.

Ok I learned from what i had read before that it wasn't the serial number i needed but thought I would mention it. Also, you are correct it should have read 5 positions.

AR8 Jason ... When I was trying to look it up I found both years as well. I wasn't sure which one was correct either. I still can't find another watch like it on ebay to tell what the price was on it. Some are close but none that I have seen exactly like it. I don't know how to look at "closed" auctions but thank you so much for all the information you gave me. Still searching for a value on it and maybe will find one someday.

Thank you again. That made it very easy for me to look. I have yet to find a face on one of them like the one I have. I don't know whether that is what matters or if it is the year etc. Finally decided to take to a local repair and dealer here that some have recommended and will get back here with a description of what I find out.
