Hello,
I bought this pin this afternoon at the Goodwill store.
I was intrigued by the design and asked to see it, thinking it might be a new piece.
Happily I discovered that it was quite an old piece, solid, and unmarked,( not happy about the unmarked part :)
I think it's brass, but I'm not sure,......of course I was hoping it might be silver.
It measures 1 5/8 " X 1 7/8 "
I believe it depicts blacksmiths at work.
Would love to know what others think about it.

Before I went to bed last night I examined this piece thoroughly to discover nothing.
The longer I have it,( not yet 24 hrs ), the lovelier it becomes:)
I tried an acid test for silver with no conclusive results, except that when I rubbed a corner on the testing stone it didn't wear through to the brass color that I expected.
We'll see.

Hi Burdek, that is a really nice piece.., English? If you can find someone who can weigh it in air and then in water (needs a balance set up for this) and post the weights (best to be in grams to two decimal places) I can tell you if it's brass or silver, and if neither, some likely alloy matches.
