This is before and after of my grandfathers toolbox/liquor cabinet.
My grandmother would not allow "spirits" in her house. So in my grandfather's work shop he kept monshine, whiskey and chasers locked up in his toolbox. On family gatherings you knew you had come of age if you were invited to the workshop for a "tottie" men only please!
He was obviously a product of the depresion as he made this toolbox out of whatever scrap lumber was available. This box was made mostly from shipping crates addressed to Collins and Aikman, Roxboro, NC from Daylight Corp NY, NY (I think it was daylight, can't completely make it out)
Tried to maintain the integrety of the age, wear and tear and the original lettering. Hand sanded, rubbed with tungseed oil and a light coat of varnish. Great memories.
Some of the tools shown are original as is the moonshine.
