This is a really cool wooden storage box I found, it is a like a puzzle with all the smaller boxes that can be used to sort stuff. I am not sure what kind of wood this, possibly pine? I also don't know the age but it is made with great quality. It is a little dirty but I still wanted to share it with you guys. Let me know anything about this and share your thoughts.

I would bet on it being homemade and not really that old. The dado runs past the stop and looks like it was run out on a table saw. You wouldn't see that if it wasn't homemade. The individual boxes look pretty uniform except the one to the far right. The way that one has weathered makes it look like poplar. Might have been used to keep parts or even fasteners in. Looks like a fun box to keep stuff in.
The shape and functions reminds me of boxes used for Chess pieces. Perhaps it was intended to hold multiple games, chess , dominoes, backgammon.
Just a random thought.
good luck with it.
