My mother told me this was her family's butter mold. But this was so long ago that she told me, I could have it wrong. Growing up I always thought it looked like a German WWII helmet! Strange what goings on your mind when you are a kid. Anyone have any info on this? Hopefully, the pictures are better to see. Just learning my camera even though I got it several years ago. :) There are no markings on this.

These pieces did not start off life together. The top is to a butter dish in McKee's Plutec pattern. I don't know what the dish is, but it's not the correct base for this.
Thank you so much for your information. I thought that as I was growing up that there was no base to this but when I received it there was. So now I am thinking that she found this & put them together. I contacted someone who was supposed to know the McKee's Plutec patterns but she tells me that she doesn't know. I am just going to go on what you said & leave it at that for my children. Thank you for your help in solving this for me.
