I found this vintage mid century sunburst clock by Welby at a yard sale. It is a 8 day key wind clock. It cost me $1.00. It is 19 inches high by 19 inches wide.

I like the symbolism of the sunburst design cases. Does this timepiece still run olegaclockman47? Just one other question, have you ever had someone pay you to take their clock? :D
Thank you Bruce99 yes the clock still runs. no one has paid me to take a clock but they have said here take this clock and play with it.
Thank you Manikin, I spotted this little doll yesterday and thought manikin.
it was a small doll and it was a 2005 doll. and yes i did i bought it.
Come on olegaclockman47, don't tell me that you're playing with dolls now! :) Just kidding! :D Collectors learn to appreciate quality wherever it may show itself, right?
That's pretty good to have someone just give you their clock so you can 'play' with it.
After I thought about it I realized that I have had people pay me to take their clock, but I had to fix it and give it back to them! :) Not a lot of folks so far but some....and so far they've been happy to have their heirlooms working again.
It's really a neat feeling but I've found that I must spend a lot of time educating most on the proper care and feeding of their wind up antique heirloom clocks which haven't been working for a generation or two. I've had clocks come back because folks moved the clock with the pendulum in place, they knocked the suspension way out of beat and couldn't get it running again. I warn them not to do that but it doesn't matter...folks who want to restore their family heirlooms seem to be pretty nice folks. It's a five minute fix including the small talk and it's good to see them again. I had one person somehow loosen the nut holding the hands on the minute arbor...the minute hand fell off....so they put it back on 180 degrees out of phase and then they wondered why the clock I fixed for them doesn't strike the hour properly anymore...and why did the nut fall off?! Probably because they keep playing with their new toy! :)
A surprising number of folks don't have a clue. I guess the mechanical technology just goes too far back for them and they are not mechanically inclined at all. Today's clock are all automatic. The only thing you have to do is change the battery and make daylight savings adjustments...they even have radio-synchronized clocks that will do that for you...if you even want to bother with a dedicated clock at all.
I give them written instructions, and go over it all when they pick up their clocks but for some folks it just doesn't matter. Their eyes glaze over so I politely end the lesson, pack up their clock and send them on their way with the written instructions. I know they'll be back. It's fine. I enjoy it but some folks really need to stick to battery powered movements, or their cell phones or the digital clock on whatever desk-top, lap-top, hand-held device/toy they're playing games on.
I had one person tell me that they had an antique tambour that no longer worked and that it was just cheaper for her to buy a new antique. She wanted to know if I had anything to show her. I showed her the website addresses of a couple of businesses that sell quartz movement tambour reproductions and thanked her for her interest in antique clocks. :D That's the nice thing about collecting and working on clocks as a hobby...you can do stuff like that and still eat.
Oh well, enough of that. This really is a nice clock Clockman. A modern "Sun Dial". Thanks for sharing it!

Hey Oleg did good he is versatile in his interests and I appreciate you thinking of me when you bought the doll . My Best friend a man has made a lot of money selling and buying dolls for many many years :-) and I have sold model airplanes
and yes Bruce I knew you were kiddin' and that is what is great about CW we learn and we also have a bit of fun too ! I love the Sunburst !! I learned alot about clocks today between you 2 . I hope I can use that knowledge someday I just know change the battery when all else fails :-)
You are right bruce99, people wont listen when you tell them dont do this and dont do that. I find most of my clocks in yard sales. I have no idear why people give up there old family clock.they like to buy a quartz clock and let the battery die and corode and trash it.most of my clocks were found by a friend of mine that had a fleamarket. he found out he had cancer and passed away 14 years ago.in fact he left me his family clock that he bought fo his mother to remember them.you never forget your best friends.
