This is the fireplace in our old farmhouse [used for storage] we still use it during the winter even though it puts most of the heat up the huge chimney [you can stand up in it] the house had 5 of these but now only 2 after 1936.

    If ever you decide to remove and restore, do it carefully. If this was a main fireplace you may find a coin set in the mud above the top of the opening in the center. It was common years ago to do that, masons now days are to cheap. I once uncovered one and found a silver dollar on each side. The home owner was delighted and left them for display.

    Noted,I have found pennies IN the plaster that fell from the ceiling a few years ago!
