I was walking through Jackson Square in New Orleans one day and met an 86 year old man named Bill, who was a painter. I bought the first of William Reinhart's paintings, "MaMa, MaMa, It's Gonna Rain", right there on the spot. I loved his vignettes of life in New Orleans so much, that I ended up commissioning about 15 of them, in total. I have given away three and have kept a collection of 12. If you notice his signature, it is a watermelon rind with a heart, thus "Rein-hart", he was very funny, and it is so New Orleans. These are called the "Red Dog Series", because he had done a show in Shreveport and at the end, when all his paintings were leaning against the car getting ready to load, a red dog came along and peed on his paintings, he said..."The Critics have Spoken". He was always, as I said, very funny. If you notice, in every one of these twelve "vignettes" of Louisiana life there is a little red dog somewhere in the painting. In the 4rth painting, are Bill's Nuns,... he loved to have Nuns breaking little laws, like fishing in front of the "No Fishing" sign, he was hilarious. I am sure he is gone now, or he would be over 100 years old, but it could happen in New Orleans!! He was a magical man and I will post a short article about him. Thanks all, mich
