I had a very dear Native american friend whose tribe had tons of oil, so he spent his life travelling the world. He went to China and asked me what I wanted him to bring me back, and I said, I guess some jade??? He brought several pieces of jade jewelry, but also this incredible orb, which he told me was Jade Tiger's Eye. Has anyone ever seen anything like this stone? It is truly bizarre to watch and the photographs don't do it any justice. It moves just like Tiger's Eye...are there any "Rock Scientist's" out there who recognize this stone?? Thank you, mich
This is some form of Jade, according to my friend, who brought it back from China, where he went 4 times a year for business. He was not a novice at all in the "getting ripped off as a tourist" trade. He said Jade "Tiger's Eye", but I had never heard of that. Are there strains of quartz that you find in a big hunkahunka Jade which might explain the Tiger's Eye shimmer as you move it. It is definitely a rock, as my glassblower friend told me it is not glass. It is darkest green at the poles and appears to have a streak of clear crystal rock down the center of the rock orb. If you look at the line directly, it is almost transparent, but then when you move it it does the Tigers Eye shimmer...hmmm, Ar8, I wish you could feel this orb, it is very heavy, and the photos are hard to capture the dance of light. It is definitely the same green as the jewelry he brought back, I think this might have been a piece of Jade that was not perfect enough to make jewelry, so they incorporated the flaw to make another beautiful object, kind of like the raw emerald necklace my Mom left me.
