Can anyone tell me what these wall chimes were designed for? They mount to a wall and it has a rubber-headed mallet with it. It is antique but not sure how old, proper name or use. Can anyone help. One person suggested they were convent chimes that were rung when a visitor came to visit a nun in the convent (before phones or intercoms) and each nun had there own chime combination that was rung for her visitors. Any help is appreciated.

Appreciate the feedback, but I tried that in google search and e-bay and I do not get back any other pictures or references to what I have. They cannot be carried around like traditional dinner chimes. They are not electric. They must be wall-mounted. Seems to be unique as I can find no other photos or images on line! Thanks again
