This is the large medallion (2 ¾ inch diameter) not the silver dollar size. It is the centennial medallion of Cyrus McCormick and International Harvester Company.

Front side of the medallion has the image of Cyrus McCormick and the dates 1809 – 1884 (his birth & death dates) and the words Inventor of the Reaper.

Reverse side has an image of the reaper with the words International Harvester Company above and Centennial of the Reaper 1831 – 1931 below the image.

In addition to being the larger and more rare medallion, this one is also engraved around the outer edge. It has the inscription

HARRY ROOT COMPLIMENTS PAUL COCHRAN

I have researched and Paul Cochran started and was president of Orange State Motors in Tampa around 1921.

The medallion is in very good condition and has a dark patina which I have left as is. Material is bronze.

I owe much credit to the folks at the Mc Cormick musuem for helping me with the research on this item.

Thanks packrat. The research is a challenge at times but I have found museums and historical societies are more than willing to help if you hit a dead end.

One of these days I will post my Great Great Uncle's navy civil war records. He sailed on the iron clads before and after they were iron clad.

I have the large sized one as well. I read somewhere a few years ago that the smaller ones were given out to customers, but the larger ones were given only to International Harvester dealers. I got mine about 15 years ago at a flea mkt. for $4.00

They aren't terribly valuable by any means but they make good fodder for a swap deal sometimes.

    Thanks to all
