Hit a little vein of Scandinavian today. Quick trip into a nearby thrift turned out to be super fun.
The bowl is Iittala Flora. It is 5 1/2 wide and 3" tall. Now if my research is correct, it was originally made from 1966 to 1971 by Nuutajarvi Glass Factory in Finland. It then was re-issued in 1991 by Iittala. I believe this is the re-issue. Not sure.
The other are the classic candle sticks by Ystad-Metall. I see some references to this handsome pair as a bird or a tulip. Any opinions on this one?

Be careful with the Flora and the Fauna too! Oiva Toikka did the design. It is being copied relenlessly in the Philippines. I have never been able to tell them apart. They were both issued with stickers. Without the sticker it can be really hard to differentiate them. The design is great, though, no?

Congratulations on the candlesticks! They are classics!
Ivar Ålenius-Björk are the initials at the top. The design is called Lilja. A pair is Liljan. Decopedia says:
Björk Ivar Ålenius Sweden 1905 - 1978. Ålenius worked as a sculptor, mostly known for bust portraits. One of his most famous pieces is a monument in Malmö, Sweden, in memory of lost sailors. He also designed a series of brass candlesticks. Ålenius exhibited in Gothenburg 1945. His public ornaments can be seen in Trelleborg, Simrishamn, Ängelholm and Lund.
      I love them!

Hi V and dj. Interesting about the Flora being reproduced. I did not realize that. However I am not surprised. Mine feels newer. Not in quality, but she doesn't have the experienced look to her. Pattern is awesome.

I actually debated on buying the candle sticks. They are definitely a product of my efforts to learn more, but not in love with them. I grabbed them of course as soon as I saw them in the jumble. Walked around with them as I checked the store out then took a minute to decide. They were super cheap. (less than 2 bucks each) Then saw that they were "blue" which meant an additional 25% off. I knew I would kick myself if I didn't purchase. That being said, they look fab on my dining room table.

Thanks for all the info V. You are a treasure. dj, still love your collection!

Thanks Amber but I reckon you should keep them.
Check out the prices of these on the net.
      They really are classic items.
I reckon you should aim on getting four at least.
      The more the better.

v, I am feeling a little overwhelmed with all of my treasures so happy to gift pieces to my friends if they like them. The hunt and learning is really a lot of the collecting appeal for me. Put it this way, I am considering doing a vintage bizarre to off load some of the tonnage. Also, I spent three dollars on these sticks, cheap gift for a friend. Offer still open!

I know what you mean about it being a bit much. I can't get to the dining room table at the moment. I'm starting to give it back to Vinnies and the Salvo's too. I learn from things and keep too much.

I will start hunting for them immediately!

      Thanks for the candlestick, Amber!
They have pink candles within and one is on a perspex stand next to two Leerdam vases.
      They soar like gulls!

Hunter, did you find some treasures? Was it fun? Looked fantastic!
    19. Hunter Hunter, 12 years ago
It was SO crazy, fun, exhausting, and wacky. I came home with a lovely vintage kitchen clock and some japanese matchbook covers (S&T posts coming soon), but couldn't bring too much back in my carry-on... Did inspire me to do a little bargain basement thrifting on my return to california though. Definitely an event like no other!
