Hi, I'm sorry - I simply cannot see the hallmarks. However, Sweden's country hallmark is three crowns.

      Fascinating technique,ROBinHawaii!

TeresaD, have you run your hallmarks on the following site? This link will take you directly to the Swedish silver hallmarks on the 925-1000.com site.

By the way, I looked at your ring because I found it very attractive. A simple, elegant design. Glad you found it! Regards, miKKo

Hi, TeresaD. I am going to submit two posts in reply. I just lost the first submission before posting because I toggled to another screen and lost my comment. I will do some more research and then post the second submission later.

First posting: OK, I am no expert - strictly an amateur, so I will posit only. I don't know where this ring was made, but I think that it was imported into Sweden after 1912 because it bears the post-1912 Swedish import hallmark of three crowns in an oval. (If it had been made in Sweden after 1912, the three crowns would appear in a trefoil - or a shamrock without the stem.) The hexagon with the "S" denotes a silver grade of 830 OR higher. Because of the nicked/battered condition of the silver, I think that either this ring has seen much 'wear' or 'abuse', OR that the silver is of a higher grade than 830, i.e., I think that the silver would be softer than 830. What you take as 'S1', I think might be '51'. I don't know the significance of this mark. I will have to do more research. I expected to find hallmarks for city, maker, and date. Possibly, the '51/S1' serves as one of these. I'll get back with you later. Regards, miKKo

Hi, TeresaD. The info in the first posting above was derived from the link I provided this morning, namely http://www.925-1000.com/Fsweden_Date_Code.html

I have done some searching on the web. The Swedish date hallmark is a Letter and a Number. I don't see a 'S1' in the tables, but perhaps I'm missing something. The only other dating info I can provide is the assertion found in the following link: http://www.modernsilver.com/Swedishhallmarks.htm
Namely, that the marks 'oval with three crowns followed by hexagon with "S" ' were not used after 1988. So, it looks like your ring was made or imported after 1912 but before 1989. I don't have any other info. Sorry. Regards, miKKo
