This post card was in My Step dads Military wood box he kept all his service items in . It says 1945 and some little writing I can't make out in corner on back . I would say it was made in Germany by the marks on back . You military guys know more about this than do . I believe he was at this camp as a guard to protect people from Germans if I remember his story . I should have taken notes. My 2nd Step dad made a Video and talked about his years in WWII when he was 88 . It is very interesting he worked very close with Patton and traveled with him in Philippines
I believe this card to be

Thanks packrat :-) I thought so also . He must have felt it special to keep all these years also .
It looks like your step dad and my dad trod some of the same ground during the war. My dad was with the Third Infantry Division when it passed through Dachau. He'd already fought in North Africa, Italy and into Germany, but nothing prepared him for what he saw at Dachau.
Anyway, Dachau was used by the US Army as an internment camp after the war, so that's probably what you remember him talking about.
The card caption basically says this card is "in memory of the day Dachau concentration camp was liberated" - very interesting card!
Fascinating piece!
This is much more than interesting, it is history. Wonderful post.
Thank you so much.
Thank you fjrjr2 . I agree it was history and what I wonder is why it was printed in Germany not USA ? I think the Germans were happy that it was over and they produced the cards . Thank you for comment and stopping by :-)
Thank you Flowerrose ! and than you for nice comment :-)
Hunter I agree with you on that ! Thank you for comment it is appreciated !!
Thanks AR that makes sense now . I wondered why Germany would make cards with Statue of liberty on them .
Pretty rough going at Dachau AR . I guess that is why he kept the card in a sealed box all those years .
