Steven Weiss & Donald Wagstaff opened the first Mel's Drive-In in September of 1985 located at 2165 Lombard Street, San Francisco. Two years later, a second one was opened on Geary Street also in San Francisco. The next two opened in Los Angeles, one in Sherman Oaks and one in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip.
