This little pot has been a mystery for a very long time, too long!
I picked it up at a Vinnies over twenty years ago.
It is small!
It is only 8 cm tall = 3.4 inches.
The glaze is very thick and has gathered beautifully around the foot. It just adds a plumpness to the form of the piece.
On the surface of the pot is a a landscape of a waterfall and a flowering tree. The background is a drip glaze of brown on grey. The enamel decoration has been added over the glaze in blue, brown, green, purple and red enamels. It is signed in red, which is typical of Kutani signatures.
The top two characters are "Ku tani" - nine valleys.
Any help with this one would be appreciated.

Lived in your part of the world for 18 months. Spent a couple of weeks in Perth and met some nice folk. They were having a party and invited me as the "token" American. I walked into the party and immediately ran into an old classmate of mine. Small, small world. I ran into him last year and we immediately started laughing.
