This is my latest and greatest... It's an 18 size open face Hamilton from 1901. The 940 models -that's what this one is- were serious railroad workhorses. They're widely considered the watch that put Hamilton on the map as a producer of quality timepieces. Beyond all that...They're beautiful! I've tried to take some good pictures but I think my camera was having a bad day...lol... Check it out, it's running great and keeping pretty good time. It'll keep even better time after I've regulated it a bit...

    toolate2,
These are great watches. I wear one at least once a week. Mine is serial # 976446 dating around 1913 with a Montgomery dial. Keeps perfect time. I love them.

I agree! The 940 is a great watch... Hamilton produced them from 1900 - 1928 with a total production of 205815 movements. Pretty incredible numbers! Thanks for the love pwc!!!

Would love to see it apart, inbetween and back together. Sorry about the break, but I'm sure that you'll have it up and ticking in no time. Best Regards, Kerry

Thanks geo26e! I'm going tear this down over the weekend and replace that mainspring. I'll take some photos of the process and post them. The internal workings of these old watches are really very beautiful!

Finally got around to dropping a new mainspring in this little beauty... It's ticking away on my desk right now. Very easy fix. I only had to remove the barrel bridge and the mainspring barrel came right out! It went so fast and easy that I forgot to take pics...lol...I'll take some better shots of the watch soon. It really is a stunner!!
