A while back AR8Jason showed us some neat medals from the Walter Schroeder Foundation of Milwaukee. Here we have a membership medal from the Milwaukee Old Settlers Club that belonged to Walter Schroeder. The 1878 date below his name was thought to be his join date but is really his birthday. His parents actually were old settlers so it is possible that the club membership was also open to the children of old settlers especially if they were rich like Walter was. Walter is most famous for building the Schroeder Hotel in downtown Milwaukee which was later renamed the Marc Plaza and is now owned by the Hilton Corporation.
