George III silver serving dish or card salver – rather small; 10 inches X 4.5 inches.
Fully hallmarked London 1797.Maker`s mark of Timothy Renou (registered Feb 1792).
Any idea of the use of this silver item is very appreciated.

A bread tray? It might also be the under-plate for a sauce/gravy boat?

Sir, thank you very much for your kind comment about the magnificent silver spider opera purse you had listed! I opened my email this morning, and tried to post my thank you directly to that item, but it had disappeared, so I couldn't thank you there. miKKo

Yes,my dear friend, I think it was under-plate for a gravy boat or e.g.candle snuffers, although they followed the shape most of the time.Anyway, something is missing here.Still,I like the craftsmanship and London hallmarks.
