The door-to-door Singer "Bonded Representatives" would carry a case like this to people's homes during the '30's, 40's, & 50's. The case is made by "Willian Bal Corporation" of Newark, New Jersey of a unique lightweight fabric composite called "Aerofiber" with metal hasps, edge trim and hinges. (Note: the warped nature of the dividers and parts/ supplies drawer).
The case measuring 18 1/2" w x 13 1/2" h x 7 1/2" d weighs a light 9 lbs. The saleman would carry assorted parts and tools for on-site repairs as well as literature of the newest offerings. While someone has attempted to remove the decals from the outside of this example, there are stampings and evidence on the inside to indicate its history. We are happy to have it in our collection!
