I believe this to be a butter dish, or serving dish. It was made by Warwick and dated 1942. I have two of these and they have the same three green stripe pattern as a bowl I listed earlier made by The Trenle Blake China Company.

This a standard pattern of restaurant ware. It is still being made today, by many different chian companies. I used this pattern in my own restaurant from 1990 -2003.
