    (310 items)

Here are a few more items I have found while metal detecting over the years.
#1. Large Schlitz Beer token, the quarter is just for size comparison purposes.
#2. Good For One Pack Of Cigarettes.
    #3. Good For 5¢ In Trade(well worn)
    #4. 25¢, I. Popper & Brother, Greenville, Texas.
All four appear to be made of copper and were dug here in Texas.
I had to take a sabbatical from metal detecting for several years due to raising grandchildren and other responsibilities, however, now that I am retired, I am planning to actively return to doing the things I love, metal detecting being on top of the list. I hope to have many new unearthed items to share in the future.
    enjoy

Great finds Packrat ! My son just ook up metal dectecting in a woods near by . So far a few trinkets . But heck I was hoeing my garden and found a old dime 2 days ago not good pay for all the work :-) I have to clarify what I was doing . How did the take a nice word like a hoe which us farmers use to make it something else ?

Hoeing in the garden is okay, hoeing on a street corner not okay :-)

      Manikin, thank you very much.
He needs to be encouraged. Tell him not to be discouraged at first, persistance will pay off.
Tell him to look for signs. A small stand of trees or brush that are shorter then the surrounding trees. Plants that don't belong with the rest, they can last for many years and can indicate past habitation.
Any rise or depression in the earth that does not look right, they need to be investigated. Small pieces of broken glass. If he finds a promising area, tell him to take a minute to stand there and visually survey the area. You want to hit the most promising areas first, this will eliminate aimlessly walking around. After a while he will be able to survey an area from a metal detecting perspective.
      Hope this helps.
      Thank you very much ttomtucker

So right walksoft ! :-) But I made mistake of getting hurt hoeing my garden a few years back I had to go to Dr and he asked what happened I said I was out hoeing and hurt my arm . His eyebrows shot up ! and then he chuckled I realized I have to be careful I put it in context . I do garden a lot still . In fact in even do my neighbors gardens because I love it so much .

Yes Mani context is important, but it can be funny when it isn't used:)
Make sure you clean your gardening tools when you are done, you don't want a dirty hoe in your garden shed. lol
